We are pleased to announce the publication of the scientific monograph “Molecular breeding of plants”, which was co-written by researches from the three departments of the Agricultural Institute Osijek, including the Department for Maize Breeding and Genetics (Associate Professor Domagoj \u0160imi\u0107, Ph.D.; Vlatko Gali\u0107, Ph.D.; Antun Jambrovi\u0107, Ph.D.), Department for Cereal Breeding and Genetics (Ivana Plav\u0161in, Ph.D.; Kre\u0161imir Dvojkovi\u0107, Ph.D.; Dario Novoselovi\u0107, Ph.D.), Department for Industrial Plant Breeding and Genetics (Aleksandra Sudari\u0107, Ph.D.), and the director of the Agricultural Institute Osijek, Professor Zvonimir Zduni\u0107, Ph.D., EMBA.<\/p>\n
This scientific monograph includes an overview of the problems of classical plant breeding as well as the present state of molecular methods utilization in both basic and applied research. In addition to the theoretical foundations of the various methods used in molecular plant breeding, the monograph also includes numerous case studies describing the results of specific research conducted within the Center of Excellence for Biodiversity and Molecular Plant Breeding (CoE CroP-BioDiv). CoE CroP-BioDiv is a research network focused on the transfer of knowledge and technology with the purpose of directly advancing research in the field of agriculture. The research group includes scientists from three faculties (University of Zagreb, Faculty of Agriculture; J.J. Strossmayer University in Osijek, Faculty of Agrobiotechnical Sciences; University of Zagreb, Faculty of Science) and three scientific institutes (Institute of Agriculture and Tourism Pore\u010d; Agricultural Institute Osijek; Institute for Adriatic Crops and Karst Reclamation Split). Therefore, it comprises eminent experts and scientists from all Croatian higher education institutions and scientific institutes in the field of agriculture.<\/p>\n
