The Agricultural Institute Osijek is a public scientific institute whose core activity encompass scientific and professional activities in the area of biotechnical sciences, the field of agriculture and food technology, and in the area of natural sciences, the field of biology.

The Institute’s scientific endeavors include both basic and applied research within the biotechnical and natural sciences. Its primary objectives are to expand and deepen scientific knowledge, address scientific, economic, and developmental challenges of strategic importance to the Republic of Croatia, foster innovation and patent creation, promote sustainable development, enhance the competitiveness of scientific programs and projects, and strengthen the connection between scientific research and higher education. The Institute also carries out other professional tasks in accordance with its Statute.

The Institute is committed to fostering excellence in applied and developmental research, with the aim of improving food and bioenergy production, supporting related industries, and advancing natural resource management at the regional, national, and European levels.

The Agricultural Institute Osijek employs 167 permanent staff members, including 36 PhDs, 2 MScs, 2 university specialists, 28 university graduates, and other qualified employees.
